I'm Spending Christmas With Jesus Christ This Year!!

As some of you may know, Billy Joe Daugherty went to heaven a few weeks ago. He was a man that was truly about building God's Kingdom and he is already greatly missed. Yesterday, December 15, 2009 Oral Roberts made his way to heaven also. I'm sure everyone knows this man and the healing ministry he was involved in. Both of these men's ministries were across the road from each other in Tulsa Oklahoma so we here in OK have two great men that we will miss very much.

There is a song by David Ingles that comes to mind..... "There's a whole lot of people going home, and by the signs of time it won't be long. In the twinkling of an eye we'll all be gone. There's a whole lot of people going home."

My very good friend Cindy, also had her mother go to heaven the same week as Billy Joe, and I can only imagine the empty space that is left in her heart right now.

I lost my good friend Debbie, a few years ago right before Christmas and the poem below was read at her service. I dedicate this poem to Cindy, Wantha Ann, Susan C., the Daugherty family, the Roberts family, Tiffany at Southern Sass and all of you that have a love one that has moved to heaven.

I'M SPENDING CHRISTMAS WITH JESUS CHRIST THIS YEAR!!

I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below,
With tiny lights like heaven's stars, reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular, please wipe away that tear.
For I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year!

I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear,
But the sounds of music can't compare
with the Christmas choir up here.
I have no words to tell you of the joy their voices bring,
For it is beyond description to hear the angels sing.

I know how much you miss me, I see the pain inside your heart,
but just remember one day soon we'll no longer be apart.
I can't tell you of the splendor or the peace here in this place,
Can you just imagine Chritmas with our Savior, face to face?

I'll ask Him to light your spirit as I tell Him of your love,
so pray for one another as you lift your eyes above.
Please let your hearts be joyful and let your spirits sing,
For I'm spending Christmas in heaven
And I'm walking with the King!!!

Please feel free to use this poem if you want to honor your love one on your blog. I'd love to hear about them as I'm sure many others would too.

  2. What a beautiful poem. I just finished reading the little booklet you gave each of us last night by Billy Joe - Victory Over Death. That's what it's truly all about: our running this race of faith to reach that goal line of spending eternity with our Triune God. We will!

  3. i can only imagine the joy my father must be experiencing. To be sitting at the feet of the Savior whom he loved to preach about. Sad for us here on earth with our loved ones gone, but the rejoicing in heaven must be beautiful!! Great poem!!!

  4. I can't remember where, but I have heard that. Wish I had it to read when my mom went home to glory fourteen years ago from yesterday.
